SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2023 AT 10 AM – 2 PM
Join us if you dare for our October Kids Day at the Museum: It’s a WWI Halloween on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10am to 2pm at The Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library. This event is free and open to the public.
This October, we’re embarking on a journey through time to explore the captivating history of Halloween and how World War I influenced the way we celebrate this festive occasion. Did you know that the beloved candy we receive on Halloween owes its existence to WWI? It’s true! Attendees will learn how sugar was rationed during the war and how this led to the cherished tradition of trick-or-treating.
Adding an exciting touch to the Halloween-themed festivities, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the captivating WWII Barn and experience rides in a WWII jeep. Inside the Museum, our authentic WWII dog tag machine will be open for those who want to purchase their very own personalized dog tags as a memorable keepsake for only $5. All proceeds go to support the Museum.
Our monthly Kids Day at the Museum program is sponsored by The Boys and Girls Club of the Heartland and the Dexter Kiwanis Club.
