July Kids Day at the Museum: Occupy Bloomfield 1861-1865

Join us for Kids Day at the Museum: Occupy Bloomfield 1861-1865 on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 10am to 4pm. This interactive event will transport you to the tumultuous years between 1861 and 1865 when the town of Bloomfield, Missouri, and the surrounding Southeast Missouri region were hotbeds of military activity.

Event Highlights:

  • Living History Presenters: Meet Civil War era reenactors who will bring history to life. Both soldiers and civilians will occupy Bloomfield once again, showcasing the daily lives and struggles of those who lived through the war.
  • Historical Camps: Visit the reenactors’ camps to get an up-close look at how soldiers and civilians lived during the 1860s. Learn about their clothing, tools, and daily routines.
  • 1860s Activities: Participate in a variety of activities that were common during the Civil War era. From traditional crafts to military drills, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
  • Local Civil War History: Discover the rich history of Bloomfield and Southeast Missouri, a region that saw over 20 occupations by Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War. Engage with presenters and learn about the significant events and battles that took place in this area.

This event is open to the public and admission is FREE.
