11th Annual Liberty Days:
A Living History Timeline Adventure
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2023 AND SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2023
8AM to 4PM | BLOOMFIELD, MISSOURI
Watch as The Past Comes Alive
The Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library will be celebrating our 11th Annual Liberty Days: A Living History Timeline Adventure on Friday, October 6, and Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day on the museum grounds. This event is open to the public and admission is free.
Liberty Days provides a great opportunity for you and your family to experience history hands-on.
We do this by hosting and participating in historical interpretation events and celebrations to educate visitors about 18th-century colonial and military life through the modern era. Life, history, ideas, and values are presented through costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, and military demonstrations.
Have you ever wondered what it like was to live in different times and places in the past? What kind of foods did they eat, how did they make a living and what did they do for fun?
Visitors can walk from camp to camp at this family-friendly, living history festival. You will experience life during the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI & II, and up to the modern era.
Each encampment is staffed with individuals that are enthusiastic about their own special time and place and they’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that their persona, clothing, gear, and equipment are as accurate as possible.
Some of the 20-plus demonstrations will include quill writing, soap making, candle making, flamethrowers, atlatl throwing, tomahawk throwing, a candy cannon, blacksmithing, hide tanning, weapons, uniform displays, mock battles, and more. Our big red barn is set up with a WWII barracks complete with a nurse’s station, clerk’s station, and mess kitchen.
There will also be food trucks, a dessert silent auction, and a kids’ photo contest. Come out and eat some great food, enjoy live music, and absorb history in a new and exciting way!
Watch as the past comes alive at the 11th Annual Liberty Days: A Living History Timeline Adventure. This year will be bigger and better than ever. This event is made possible by volunteers from the Poplar Bluff Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Crowley’s Ridge Blackpowder Club, the Turner Brigade, and the 10th Armored Division.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity and all of the fun, fascination, and history of this event. For more information contact The Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library.
