Jim Martin arrived in Topeka where he learned about Kansas native Harry W. Colmery, the architect of the GI Bill. On the road a little after 6:00 a.m. from Topeka, Jim Martin saluted Fort Riley, then drove through Hayes and Goodman, to Denver, Colorado.
At the Colorado Governor’s office in Denver, Jim Martin left information regarding Colorado adopting the concept of a state Veterans Hall of Fame.
Mr. Martin also presented a proclamation to the staff at the mayor’s office in beautiful downtown Denver. He then joyed in concluding the day by journeying north along the cloud-covered and beautiful Front Range to Fort Collins and beyond.
